Story Power: The Storytelling Revolution from Traditional to Personal
A Virtual Workshop in the Art of Storytelling with Kate Farrell
Saturday, August 22, 2020 - 10:00am to 11:30am
Produced In partnership with the San Francisco Writers Conference
This event will take place via Zoom. After you register via Eventbrite the credentials will be sent to you before the date of the class.
Kate Farrell, author of Story Power, discusses the radical change in storytelling along with contributors to the book who will model their stories. Contributors include Sheryl Bize-Boutte who will share folktales from her Creole relatives’ storytelling and how it helped to inform her writing; and Claire Hennessy who will discuss the movement in storytelling to bring traditional and personal narrative closer together, and will tell a personal story that echoes a traditional tale.
In addition, you will learn how to create, craft, and tell memorable stories. We will study the structure of personal narratives and the seven steps all storytellers should follow.
For each class, we reserve the right to cancel at any time and issue a full refund. If you are unable to attend your class, please email tedwards@milibrary.org at least ten days prior to receive a refund. All fees must be paid at the time of registration.
